4 Signs That You May Need Marketing Help

Four signs that you may need marketing helpSometimes it’s pretty obvious when we need help. The circumstances are just overwhelming. But sometimes the signs that we need help are a little harder to see. And if you’re a take-charge-do-it-yourself kind of person it can be even harder to see those signs.

The same is true when it comes to marketing your business. You may think you’re hanging in there when in fact you’re barely hanging on.

How do you know if it’s time to enlist a little bit of outside marketing help? Here are four signs that you may need some marketing support.

  • A Dearth of Desire: Maybe you simply don’t like to deal with marketing. It’s not your strength. It’s not something that energizes you. In fact, it drains you and keeps you from doing the things you’re good at. There’s nothing wrong with that. We’re all wired differently. Bringing in good outside marketing help can actually enable you to focus on the other essential things you do in your business.
  • Too Little Time: Sometimes business owners fret about the extra cost of hiring out marketing services. But the old adage that “time is money” really comes to the forefront.  What’s your time worth? If a professional can do something in a quarter of the time that you can (and maybe even do it better), that can actually save you money. And when you add the time involved in your marketing learning curve (figuring out what to do and how to do it), you can find yourself investing much more time than you originally planned.
  • Short on Skills: Some business owners feel that they’re not “creative” enough to do a good job with their company’s marketing. But effective marketing is about more than just pretty pictures and clever copy. Marketing today involves new skills that include skills in Search Engine Optimization, content creation and management and analytics. It may not be rocket science, but it’s a definite skill set that not everyone possesses—or has time to master.
  • Not Realizing Results: Marketing shouldn’t be just a bunch of activity. It should generate results. And yet, when asked about their marketing efforts, a lot of business will point to the activities they’ve done—instead of looking at the results they’re getting. And to be honest, a lot of businesses don’t even know what kind of results they’re getting. They don’t know how much traffic they’re getting on their websites. They don’t know how many specific leads their website or other marketing efforts are generating. They can’t tell you how many customers they’ve gained due to specific marketing activities. They may know what they’re spending—but they don’t know what’s working.

If any of these things sound familiar, it could be a sign that your business may need some outside professional marketing help. Marketing is about making sure your message is clear and compelling—and about generating leads for your business. If you don’t have the desire, time or skill to generate those results, give us a call. We can help—and let you focus on what you do best.
